Meet Your Mindset Architect: sports performance coach
Beverly Wooden-O'Day
Helping athletes bridge the gap between technical skill and competitive mastery
My work with athletes is shaped by both lived experience and specialized training in performance mindset. I spent over a decade competing in gymnastics and then figure skating; progressing through multiple levels and representing my country at national and international competitions.
Growing up in an elite sport environment meant navigating high expectations, intense training demands, and an identity shaped early by performance. That experience allows me to understand the pressures athletes face at every stage of their career. Because I have lived within high-performance systems, I recognize how mental demands evolve from early competition through elite levels. This perspective allows me to meet athletes where they are and tailor support to their specific challenges.
My approach is built on the belief that mindset is a discipline; something that can be trained with the same intention as physical skills. I focus on helping athletes align their technical preparation with mental clarity so they can perform with confidence when it matters most.
I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling with a specialization in athletic performance, and I use this background to support athletes in building strong mental habits that promote confidence, focus, and consistency.
The Mindset
My work helps athletes develop:
- confidence in practice and competition
- staying locked in during programs
- bouncing back after mistakes
- handling nerves before competition
- managing pressure from training and results
- staying motivated through demanding seasons
The goal is not only improved performance, but a mindset that supports long-term growth and enjoyment of sport.

Discipline as Foundation
Elite performance is built on the unwavering commitment to the process, long before the lights of the arena come on. My philosophy is rooted in the belief that mental discipline isn't a gift, but a skill developed through consistent, intentional practice.
